An AVIAS on-site audio-visual (AV) integration and installation engineer's is able to to physically install, configure, and test AV equipment like projectors, displays, and sound systems, as well as manage cabling and network infrastructure.
They can interpret technical drawings, perform system programming, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the final product meets the client's needs and operates seamlessly, often working as part of a team and collaborating with other trades.
Installation and Integration
- Physical installation: Install and mount AV equipment such as AV control systems and equipment, projectors, flat-panel displays, and speakers according to site surveys and technical drawings.
- Wiring and cabling: Install, connect, and terminate all necessary cables, creating neat and professional racks and ensuring proper signal flow.
- System integration: Connect and integrate various components, including video conferencing equipment, control systems (like Crestron or Extron), and digital signal processors (DSPs, like QSC and BiAMP) into the overall system.
Configuration and setup
- System programming: Perform basic programming for control panels and interfaces to ensure ease of use.
- Configuration: Adjust settings and calibrate equipment to optimize performance for audio, video, and control functions.
- Networking: Install and Configure IP-based systems and perform basic network setup as needed.
Testing and troubleshooting
- System testing: Conduct comprehensive tests to verify that all components are working correctly and that the system meets specifications.
- Problem resolution: Diagnose and troubleshoot any faults or issues that arise during installation or after the system is operational.
Collaboration and documentation
- Team collaboration: Work with project managers, clients, and other on-site teams (like electricians and network engineers) to ensure smooth project execution.
- Site surveys: Assist with pre-installation site surveys to plan the project effectively.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation, including wiring diagrams, schematics, and inventory tracking.
Maintenance and support
- Preventive maintenance: Conduct routine checks and maintenance to ensure the system's long-term reliability.
